Ruth Anne McMonagle, Owner and Manager

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ruth has lived in four provinces coast to coast, three major cities and sojourned on three continents. Home has been Campbell River, Vancouver Island since 1981, with brief times abroad. Ruth studied at Providence College, University of Winnipeg, Regent College on the UBC campus, Vancouver Community College, professional division, and NWBTC.

While at university, Ruth took an interdisciplinary degree with a strong emphasis on cultural history. At that time she spent two years at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in sales. A fascinated reader, Ruth’s special interest is in Celtic spirituality, and reading material from obscure writers.

Personal Life Highlights include:
• Weeping as a little child over the melodramatic Victorian literature I was given to read.
• Listening to worship music in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice.
• Seeing the Tang dynasty Jade pottery collection in the Art Museum of Chicago.
• Finding a tour guide at the Michangelo exhibition in Florence who could see and express the beating heart of passion and beauty in cold, stone, unfinished figures.
• Holding my children’s tiny warm bodies at their births, and now my grandchildren.
• Finding wonder and awe at the beauty of those who’ve graced me with their friendship.
